Eikehof is a small family-owned stud in Oostmalle, Belgium. For two generations our family has been working with horses — and with dogs through our sister project at eikehof.be — with the same simple belief: animals do best when they are given time, space, and honest attention.
We are not a big commercial yard. Every horse here is known by name, hand-fed, and watched closely. We start them when they are ready and not before, we let them learn from older horses in the field, and we look for partners who will continue what we have started.
Whether you are a junior looking for a kind, willing first partner, an amateur wanting a brave horse with scope to grow with you, or a professional searching for a serious young prospect — there is probably a horse on this site that fits.
A small program, a clear philosophy
We breed a handful of foals each year — never more than we can give individual time to. The aim is honest, brave horses that are sound in mind and body, with the scope and ride-ability to go far in the right hands.
Mare lines first
Every horse we breed comes from a mare we know intimately. We build slowly and only keep what works.
Stallions chosen one match at a time
We never use a stallion 'because everyone is using him' — each pairing answers a specific question about temperament, ride-ability or scope.
Tested in sport
Many of our mares have competed up to 1.20m or evented before producing. Breeding and sport aren't separate at Eikehof.
Raised outside
Foals stay with the herd, on grass, until they are well grown. They learn to be horses before they learn to be ridden.
